All Classes in
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition
Last updated: August 11, 2026 — New-class stats confirmed by Bandai Namco
Tarnished Edition gives you twelve starting classes: the ten origin classes from the base game, plus two brand-new ones built for players experiencing Elden Ring for the first time on Switch 2. Here's every class with its confirmed starting stats, what it's actually like to play, and who should pick it.
🆕 The Two New Classes
Both arrive in Tarnished Edition on Switch 2, and both also launch the same day as the paid Tarnished Pack on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Switch 2 buyers get them bundled in.
🛡️ Heavy Knight NEW
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 10 |
| Vigor | 14 |
| Mind | 8 |
| Endurance | 17 (highest of any class) |
| Strength | 15 |
| Dexterity | 11 |
| Intelligence | 7 |
| Faith | 8 |
| Arcane | 9 |
Bulky steel armor and an oversized scimitar. The highest Endurance in the game means you can wear heavy plate and keep a decent roll. A pure Strength tank — but with low Mind and low magic stats, you won't be casting much. This is the most forgiving class in the roster: high defense and poise let you trade blows instead of perfectly dodging every hit, which is exactly what a first-timer needs while learning enemy patterns.
🗡️ Idus Knight NEW
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 7 |
| Vigor | 10 |
| Mind | 12 |
| Endurance | 11 |
| Strength | 13 |
| Dexterity | 15 |
| Intelligence | 8 |
| Faith | 11 |
| Arcane | 6 |
A knight "of the land of Idus" — a new name in the lore — in lightweight attire with a focus on Dexterity. Starts at the lowest level of any class, but with solid Mind and Faith it can use early incantations and summon spirits, making it a surprisingly versatile agile skirmisher. Faster and more mobile than the Heavy Knight, but squishier: less forgiving if you haven't learned to read attacks.
The Ten Origin Classes
Carried over unchanged from the base game. Stats below are the confirmed starting values.
⚔️ Vagabond
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 9 |
| Vigor | 15 |
| Mind | 10 |
| Endurance | 11 |
| Strength | 14 |
| Dexterity | 13 |
| Intelligence | 9 |
| Faith | 9 |
| Arcane | 7 |
Gear: Longsword, Halberd, Heater Shield, full plate. The friendliest starting class for newcomers — high Vigor, good armor, and the halberd is one of the best early weapons in any FromSoftware game. A safe, steady melee start.
🗡️ Samurai
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 9 |
| Vigor | 12 |
| Mind | 11 |
| Endurance | 13 |
| Strength | 12 |
| Dexterity | 15 |
| Intelligence | 9 |
| Faith | 8 |
| Arcane | 8 |
Gear: Uchigatana, Wakizashi, Longbow, light armor. The Uchigatana's innate bleed is one of the strongest early weapons in the game. High Dexterity opens tons of options later. A powerful, fun start — slightly less HP than Vagabond.
⚔️ Warrior
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 8 |
| Vigor | 11 |
| Mind | 12 |
| Endurance | 11 |
| Strength | 10 |
| Dexterity | 16 |
| Intelligence | 10 |
| Faith | 8 |
| Arcane | 9 |
Gear: Twin scimitars, light armor. Dual-wield aggression — huge damage potential, low defense. Rewarding if you like fast combat, but it punishes greed. Best for a second character.
🛡️ Hero
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 11 |
| Vigor | 14 |
| Mind | 9 |
| Endurance | 12 |
| Strength | 16 |
| Dexterity | 9 |
| Intelligence | 7 |
| Faith | 8 |
| Arcane | 11 |
Gear: Battle Axe, great for a Strength build. Highest starting Strength. Massive per-hit damage, very slow recovery — every swing is a commitment. Great if you like feeling like a juggernaut.
✨ Astrologer
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 6 |
| Vigor | 9 |
| Mind | 15 |
| Endurance | 9 |
| Strength | 8 |
| Dexterity | 12 |
| Intelligence | 16 |
| Faith | 7 |
| Arcane | 9 |
Gear: Astrologer's Staff, two glintstone sorceries, dagger, cloth robe. The clear pick if you want to cast from minute one. Low Vigor means you're fragile until you invest in HP — expect to die while learning spell timing.
🗝️ Bandit
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 5 |
| Vigor | 10 |
| Mind | 11 |
| Endurance | 10 |
| Strength | 9 |
| Dexterity | 13 |
| Intelligence | 9 |
| Faith | 8 |
| Arcane | 14 |
Gear: Red Thorn Roundshield, Great Knife, short bow. Highest starting Arcane — strong for bleed and status builds later. A fast, sneaky start, but lightly armored and not ideal for a first run.
🛡️ Confessor
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 10 |
| Vigor | 10 |
| Mind | 13 |
| Endurance | 10 |
| Strength | 12 |
| Dexterity | 12 |
| Intelligence | 9 |
| Faith | 14 |
| Arcane | 9 |
Gear: Broadsword, heater shield, finger seal, incantation. A balanced Faith/Dexterity hybrid with a starting heal — flexible and safe. Good if you want options without committing to pure magic or pure melee.
🔮 Prisoner
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 9 |
| Vigor | 11 |
| Mind | 12 |
| Endurance | 11 |
| Strength | 11 |
| Dexterity | 13 |
| Intelligence | 14 |
| Faith | 9 |
| Arcane | 9 |
Gear: Rapier, glintstone sorcery. A spellblade — melee spacing and spell timing at once. Powerful in the right hands, but it demands game knowledge. Save it for a later run.
🙏 Prophet
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 7 |
| Vigor | 10 |
| Mind | 14 |
| Endurance | 8 |
| Strength | 11 |
| Dexterity | 10 |
| Intelligence | 7 |
| Faith | 16 |
| Arcane | 9 |
Gear: Spear, finger seal, incantation. The Faith caster — starting heals and a spear give you range and sustain. Dragon Communion incantations become strong mid-game. Niche but rewarding if you commit to Faith.
👤 Wretch
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Level | 1 |
| Vigor | 10 |
| Mind | 10 |
| Endurance | 10 |
| Strength | 10 |
| Dexterity | 10 |
| Intelligence | 10 |
| Faith | 10 |
| Arcane | 10 |
Gear: Club, no armor. Level 1, every stat at 10. This isn't a real recommendation — it's for min-maxers and challenge runners. If this is your first Elden Ring, do not pick Wretch.
